Hydroxyl Radicals that extend food shelf life

HyGenikx is an air steriliser that eliminates SARS-CoV-2 from the environment in 3 hours

In the wake of a health crisis that has highlighted the need to maintain hygienic environments, Procontrol arrives at Hostelco with HyGenikx, a range of state-of-the-art air and surface purifiers and sterilisers. Tested by Campden’s BRI Aerobiology Laboratory, they have proven effective in removing bacteria, viruses, moulds, fungi and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), both from the air and on exposed surfaces. It can eradicate 99.99% of SARS-CoV-2 in 3 hours.

HyGenikx works by photocatalytic oxidation. Inside the unit, an emission of Ultraviolet Light Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) together with a titanium dioxide catalyst generates oxygen-rich molecules called Hydroxyl Radicals. These molecules are released from the unit and, on contact with any pathogen, destroy the pathogen’s genetic material, making it impossible for it to reproduce.

As a result of their action on fungi and bacteria, HyGenikx extend the shelf life of perishable foods by an average of 58%.

Wall-mounted and despite its small size (400 x 135 x 110 mm), it is capable of serving poorly ventilated spaces of up to 40 m2. Power is supplied via a plug, although it has a battery back-up to provide an uninterrupted 24-hour supply. Moreover, the power consumption is moderate, not exceeding 13W.
