The Awards are national and international in scope
Hostelco, the International Trade Show of Equipment for Catering, Hospitality and Collectivities, announces a new edition of the Hostelco Awards with the aim of recognising excellence and innovation in nine categories relating to different projects, products and services of the Horeca channel. The Best Catering Concept, the Best Product of the Year and the Best Interior Design Project will be some of the prizes awarded by the panel of judges, who are all professionals in the sector as well as chef Carme Ruscalleda, the event’s sponsor.
Awards will be delivered as part of Hostelco on 20th April during the event’s gala night that will bring together professionals, business owners and operators in the sector. The 9 awards are in four broad categories: Hotels and Tourist Accommodation, Catering, Products and Professionals from the horeca sector.
Carme Ruscalleda, sponsor of the Hostelco Awards and one of the most prestigious chefs in the world, stated that “it is a great honour to take part in these awards. I have always opted to work with first class technical and industrial equipment and machinery”. Ruscalleda, after 30 years at the head of the three Michelin starred restaurant ‘Sant Pau’, which closed in 2018, continues to provide gastronomic advice to the Hotel Mandarin in Barcelona and the Sant Pau restaurant in Tokyo.
The judges of the ‘Hostelco Awards 2020’, all of whom are prestigious professionals from the various areas of the hotel industry such as economists, business people, managers, chefs and interior designers, will assess in the category of “Hotel and Tourist Accommodation”, the entries for the “Best Hotel Concept”, “Best Hotel Repositioning” and “Best Interior Design”. In the Restaurant and Catering field, the “Best Catering Concept”, the “Best Kitchen Project”, the “Best Interior Design”, and the “Best Collective Catering Project” will be awarded. In addition, prizes will be awarded for Best Product of the Year and Best Professional of the Horeca channel.
The awards will be given after analysing innovation, improvement in the customer experience, as well as the best interior design project, considering its consistency with the essence of the hotel or restaurant, the originality of the design, the comfort provided to customers, the use of sustainable materials and the application of state-of-the-art technological solutions. In addition, the hotel company having achieved the best repositioning or the most efficient central kitchen will also be recognised, among other awards.
In addition, the award for “Best Product” of the year will recognise a machine or accessory with an innovative design that shows the application of technology systems related to connectivity or digitalisation that is sustainable and has achieved verifiably successful results. Only items designed by companies presenting at Hostelco can opt for this recognition.
The Prize for the Best Professional Career will be awarded to the “Best Horeca Professional” who has a long career aimed at promoting the horeca sector in at least one of its many aspects.
Entries will be accepted from Spanish and foreign companies, with products or services carried out between 2018 and 2020, that can demonstrate the application of corporate social responsibility policies, as well as the use of systems that guarantee sustainability, respect for the environment and rational consumption of resources. Hostelco and Alimentaria join synergies
With the 2020 Awards, Hostelco, the leading trade show in Spain and a European benchmark in its speciality, confirms its commitment to innovation and excellence in the hotel and catering world, highlighting the human factor as one of the keys to growth and quality improvement in a sector that is strategic to the country’s economy. Organised by Fira de Barcelona and the FELAC (The Spanish Federation of Associations of Equipment Manufacturers for the Hospitality, Collectivities, and Related Industries), Hostelco will be held with Alimentaria from 20th to 23rd April 2020. The two trade shows will occupy practically all Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue, in other words, a net surface area totalling around 110,000 m2. The joint holding of Hostelco and Alimentaria will once again constitute one of the largest international platforms for the food industry, gastronomy and hotel & catering equipment, as it will display the most comprehensive and crossover range of products in the domestic and international markets to both the distribution chain and the horeca channel.
