Delivery, the hotel trend with the greatest growth

Meal delivery services have undergone almost exponential growth in recent months, above the total increase in the catering sector. We explore the trends in the sector.

In an era in which Netflix is the greatest rival to nightlife, meal delivery services constitute one of the greatest future strengths of the catering sector.


Some studies indicate that, as a result of these services, a business can increase its turnover by as much as 30 per cent. Other data show that, within 5 years, delivery and take away services will account for 20 per cent of sales in the catering sector Nothing can be taken for granted, but the fact is that businesses are witnessing breakthroughs every day, dominated bydelivery services.

The times when pizzerias and Chinese restaurants were the only kings of the jungle are long gone. Currently, other models of restaurants, such as the classics, nikkei cuisine and gastronomic establishments, also offer home delivery. Although their turnover does not amount to 30 or 40 per cent of the takings of some restaurants traditionally associated with home delivery, they can improve their sales by 5 to 10 per cent, as in the cases of Sagasta 28 Bistró&Gourmet and Dantxari, another of the establishments providing Basque cuisine where the report was recorded.
